Stretch before you surf

Gus learned the importance of stretching before you go surfing.  After the first stretch, Gus said "OK Daddy, that's enough".  However, they continued much to my amusement.  It was a riot to watch the two of them.

To the sea!

Beach Time

After going to the aquarium, we drove down to Dana Point to visit our friends, Catalina and Ron.  We had a little time to kill so we stopped at the beach first.  Thor wasted no time to get his wet suit on and go surfing.  Gus was all into it until he actually was going in the water.  He liked playing at the waters edge more.

Aquarium of the Pacific

We had a grand time looking at all the fish.  I think Gus liked the outside "splash" area.  There were large models of different sea creatures that all had shooting water coming out of them.  He played there for an hour.  He also like the giant sea bass.

Gus liked the fish, but the almost tame pigeons were where the fun was at.

Surf Lessons

By the third day of our mini vacation, Gus was all about surfing.  He was going in the water and having a blast.  I think Daddy liked it too.  It was just what the doctor ordered, some family time on the beach.

Tole Mour

Sleeping on the Tole Mour tall ship sounded like a good idea at the time, but Thor and I quickly remembered why neither of us ever want to work on a tall ship again.  We were lucky enough to spend the night on it and appreciate the hospitality of our our good friend and host, Snark.  We wanted to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific which is in the same harbor as the ship.  So we spent the night there and were able to get up and go right to the aquarium instead of driving two hours.  Gus liked it.  He thought it was an adventure, but sleeping in those small bunks with a little wiggle worm was not my idea of a good nights sleep.  Still he thought it was pretty cool.

Big Boy Bed

Besides spoiling Gus rotten, my parents  decided to buy him a big boy bed to ready for the new baby needing the crib.  I had been doing a little research and had found this one at IKEA.  It is perfect for him.  Mom finished it off with the John Deer tractor bedspread and sheets.  He is happy as a clam and doing really well in it.  It has also helped him go diaper free at night.  He is still having some accidents but that is to be expected.  We are real proud of him.  Thanks Nonni and Poppy!

Helping Daddy as always!

More Playtime

We got lots of playtime in while Nonni and Poppy were here.  We also ate lots of cake.  Here are a few more pictures.

Bubble Gun

When we were at Sea World, Poppy had bought a bubble gun for Gus.  Here are a few pictures of him enjoying his gift.  Yes, Poppy insists on spoiling Gus.

Fishing with Poppy

Dad got a little fishing in while he was here with our friend Tony.  After church on Sunday, we went to see how they were doing.  Gus really enjoyed playing in the water as much as actually "fishing".  He thought the fish on the stringer were pretty cool too.  When Poppy got home, he showed Gus how to clean them.
